DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

The Fire Department is an arm of local government which provides for the safety of the community's citizenry.  In Lake Worth, this is accomplished through the efforts of sixty employees providing medical interventions and fire extinguishment.  Additionally, four staff members ensure the safety of this constituency by enforcing relevant fire codes and educating the public of fire safe practices.

It is our goal to eliminate all fire and hazardous material dangers within our community. To take the steps to mitigate and minimize the effects of catastrophes associated with the type of adverse weather conditions known  to affect this part of the country.  It is also our objective to provide the best pre-hospital medical treatment available anywhere.

We have been able to accomplish these goals and others due to the dedication and work ethic of our employees.  A cadre of individuals forming a cohesive entity once called into action.

 HURRICANE AWARENESS

The Fire Department would like to remind everyone we are in the midst of our Hurricane Season which started on June 1st and lasts until the end of November.  It has been determined that this year will be more eventful than any in our recent history.  It is anticipated that South Florida will have a number of severe storms affecting many of the counties within our area.

This notice should serve as a reminder that everyone should begin the process to ensure the safety of their family and property.  That all should take the necessary steps to protect  those things most valuable to them.  They should also begin to store the necessities of life (such as water, non perishable food, perscriptions, etc.) to get them through a period of devastation.  A guide is available at City Hall to assist those looking for information on what to store and what to do at the approach of a hurricane. Please pick up one at your earliest convenience.  It may save your life and others.
