 OBJECTIVES.

  • Provide cost effective garbage and trash pick-up to residents by way of reliable collection services.
  • Provide residential, multi-unit recycling and commercial recycling.
  • Work Closely with private haulers servicing commercial businesses.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TRASH AND GARBAGE?

Trash items are defined as all types of bulky rubbish, including yard and garden wastes.

Regular trash collection service is provided on a five day continuous collection basis. All waste products shall be disposed of on the property of the generator. Deposits in excess of four cubic yards (3' x 3' x 12') will be charged according to the size of the deposit. Loose disposal of yard waste items is restricted to large items. All items easily containerized are to be bagged so as not to wash down the storm drains, and separated from household garbage items. The separation of yard waste from garbage waste is a State of Florida mandate and will require us to collect in a manner to guarantee maximum separation.

Large furniture items and appliances may require a $5.00 special collection sticker available at the City Hall Cashier's Office. (586-1655)

Garbage items are generally described as household kitchen waste.

Garbage is collected on a twice weekly basis, Monday through Saturday and shall be placed in thirty two (32) gallon aluminum, galvanized metal or plastic containers with tight fitting lids. They may be placed curbside for collection after 6:00 p.m. the day preceding regular collection day. Loading of containers is not to exceed fifty (50) pounds. Any and all garbage cans are to be maintained in a safe, clean condition. Cans with jagged edges or holes will not be serviced.

Recyclable Items are to be placed in the properly colored container as follows:

Yellow Bins:
Brown paper grocery bags
Corrugated cardboard boxes
Magazines, catalogs & phonebooks.
